Bring Back Our Boys.

In the light of the last week’s events which most of the world are completely oblivious to, I felt that I should write a short entry on the kidnapping of Eyal Yifrach, Gil-Ad Shaar and Naftali Fraenkel. These three young men, 19, 16 and 16, were kidnapped whilst they attempted to travel home from their house of study in Israel. Although one of the boys managed to call the Israeli police and alert them to the kidnapping, the police didn’t take it seriously, and only acted on it once the parents had reported that the three boys were missing.

Unfortunately, the world has no idea that this awful event has taken place, British, American and worldwide news stations not deeming it important enough to report. Not a word has come out of the White House or 10 Downing Street and the only publicity is coming from Jews around the world, initiatives being set up which will hopefully help to bring our brothers home. There is not much anyone can do, especially outside of Israel, and those in the IDF are doing all they can in the pursuit of Eyal, Gil-Ad and Naftali. The only thing we can do is pray for their safe and speedy return.

The historical indications in terms of what could happen to the boys from this point does not looking promising. Whoever is behind this may want something in return for their lives, or… I do not even want to dignify the other possibility with a written sentence. These boys have no training- those kidnapped from the army have training about how to deal with torture and dealing with the enemy. They know nothing. They are incredibly vulnerable; yet we are trapped. We feel the pain and yet we are helpless, we can do almost nothing. The tragedy of the situation is heart breaking; all we want is for our boys to come home.

So, I implore you: publicise, speak about Eyal, Gil-Ad and Naftali. Use the hashtags ‘#EyalGiladNaftali’ and ‘#BringBackOurBoys’ in posts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google+ and other social networking sites. Share articles from, which has live updates at this URL: . Follow ‘@bringbackourboys’ and @bringbackourboyss’ on Instagram. Join the ‘Bring Back Our Boys’ group on Facebook. Please. Let us do everything we can to do our bit in helping to bring Eyal Gil-Ad and Naftali home. They need all the help they can get.

Not knowing how to end this, I thought I’d share the following link, a song written by Shmueli in regard to these recent events. It is incredibly moving.

Please God, and I don’t mean to be a pessimist, we won’t be crying over their graves as we have done with so many others. Please God they will come home, unscarred and safe. Please God our prayers will be answered as soon as possible and their parents will not have to spend one more days without their children. Please God.
